AIG: A Hated Brand?

At this point, we are all probably pretty tired about hearing about AIG and the bonuses distributed after the bailout was issued. For the executives, this was an absolutely terrible decision that has nearly destroyed what remained of the AIG brand and reputation.
MSNBC.com posted ‘The most hated company in America’, a First Person perspective of [...]

Saturn: A Condemned Brand

I have always questioned Saturn as a brand and never fully understood whether it was a standalone company or part of the GM machine. However, during the recession/bailout, Saturn is apparently still around and have launched this campaign to tell the world. My only concern is that with a campaign like this, the brand is [...]

Stabbed in the Back: Coke Zero

I am still undecided about the effectiveness of the Coke Brand Managers used to convey that Coke Zero tastes just as good. Personally, I have tried it, but I continually choose to rot my teeth out and drink Coca-Cola Classic.
Either way, the writing in the “Red Handed” ad is genius. Extra kudos to the Copywriter [...]

Pulled Plug: Chris Brown & Doublemint

Could anyone have seen this coming? Talk about a shocking Brand Blunder. Netherlands Help Increase WBC Brand Awareness

It’s March and for many, it’s way to early to be thinking about baseball season. I mean, March Madness owns March with the NCAA Basketball Tournament. So, unless you are beyond a die-hard baseball fan, the baseball doesn’t officially start until April when MLB season officially opens.
However, every three years since 2006, much like the [...]

McDonald’s Talking Fish: Good for the Brand?

Arnold Worldwide [Boston] created McDonald’s singing fish commercial, which I find terribly annoying, but amazingly effective. According to an article in yesterday’s Boston Globe:
The TV spot began airing last week, and between Friday and yesterday afternoon, it received 50,000 hits on Youtube.com, an Arnold spokeswoman said.

I was talking to my friend [...]

I Love the Whole World, I Love Discovery!

I’ll admit that I love watching the Discovery Channel. I can’t really think of a night where something on Discovery catches my interest.
Thanks to 72andSunny, the Discovery Channel launch the “I Love the World” campaign, I can’t get the damn song out of my head. But in all fairness, I don’t mind it in the [...]
